A third major development is planned for the Avera on Louise Health Campus at 69th Street and Louise Avenue.
The health care system announced on Wednesday it plans to build a $14 million, 60,000-square-foot complex called the Avera Human Performance Center.
“This center, plus the surgical hospital, medical building and Avera Addiction Care Center, make this campus a health care destination,” David Flicek, CEO and President of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, said.
The facility will focus on the needs of people who want to improve their health, strength and overall physical performance. It will house a sports medicine clinic with staff that specialize in non-operative treatment, biomechanical evaluations and specialized instructions after injury or concussion. There will be a modern therapy gym, seven volleyball courts and a nutrition bar among other features.
The human performance building will be situated on the southwest corner of the campus facing Louise Avenue.
Construction will start this fall; it is expected to open in December 2019.
