Girls Breaking Into Technology Through Camp

A local event is aiming to get more young girls interested in computer technology.

About 30 people ranging from elementary to high school age, came to take part in “Girl Breaker Day.”

Girls learned how to break apart everything from computer monitors to security systems.

Event attendees also built robots and junk sculptures.

“This just lets them explore and see if this is something that they would enjoy doing or something that they would like to learn more about,” event organizer Will Bushee said.

11-year-old Isabella Hayes says she’s enjoying learning the new craft.

“Because I’m learning new things and I really like building and taking a part stuff,” Hayes said.

Organizers say they’re considering hosting it again next year.
