While Sioux Falls has experienced some flooding, it would’ve been a lot worse if it weren’t for the levee system along the Big Sioux River.
So how has the city been monitoring the system during the river’s high levels? KELOLAND’s Sarah McDonald was at the Big Sioux Diversion channel news conference and will explain what the city has been looking out for on KELOLAND News Tuesday night.
And police reported Tuesday morning that people seem to finally be getting the message, don’t go into closed parks.
The city closed some parks near the BIg Sioux River, and the Sioux Falls Bike trail because of the flood threat. Police say officers issued six tickets on Monday to people going into closed areas.
That’s a decrease from the numbers we have been seeing, where 10 to 15 tickets were issued a day over the weekend.
