First responders and military members from South Dakota are taking part in a special shooting competition this week.
The organization South Dakota Salutes is hosting dozens of law enforcement, firefighters and military personnel at the free event at Hunters Pointe in Humboldt. Over two days, there will be more than 400 shooting events. It’s all in an effort to say thank you to the men and women who protect and serve.
“I think it’s just important that we reach out and we say thank you with this. This group is so competitive. Most of them have been competitive all their lives. To give them an event where their competitive juices can flow, I just think it’s something we must do,” Tony Bour, with South Dakota Salutes, said.
The third annual event features four separate sporting clays tournaments each day. There will also be three rifle and pistol tournaments. It runs through Tuesday.
