First Lady Melania Trump is back home, after a four-nation visit to Africa.
While she was in Kenya, she drew criticism on social media for wearing a pith helmet, considered to be a symbol of colonialism and white rule across the African continent.
Speaking to reporters Saturday, she said she wished people paid less attention to what she wears.
“You know what, we just completed an amazing trip. We went to Ghana, we went to Malawi, we went to Kenya, here we are in Egypt. I want to talk about my trip and not what I wear and that’s very important what I do,” Trump said. “What we’re doing with US aid, and what I do with my initiatives and I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear.”
The First Lady wrapped up her first solo international trip with a stop in Egypt.
