Fentanyl is the most deadly drug in the country.
The synthetic opioid was linked to nearly 29-percent of all overdoses in 2016. That’s according to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention’s national center for health statistics.
The data was based on drug overdose death certificates from 2011 through 2016. For three of those years, 2012 through 2015, heroin was the drug most often found in overdose deaths.
