Feeding South Dakota in need of canned goods and pasta

News

An organization that helps feed people across KELOLAND needs your help.

Feeding South Dakota needs more canned food and pasta.

One of the reasons is because of demand during the government shutdown.

The organization saw an 40 percent increase in people being served over the month of February across the state.

They’ve also been doing more mobile food distributions to target food insecurity.

Now, they needs some help filling up the shelves.

“While we really try to focus on healthier food options with fresh vegetables and milk and dairy, everyone needs a certain type of staple items to keep in their pantries,” Feeding South Dakota Communications Coordinator Jennifer Stensaas said.

There are several ways to help.

You can donate money or drop off food at the locations in Rapid City, Pierre, or Sioux Falls.

Again, right now, they need canned goods and pasta.

You can also host a food drive of your own.

If that’s something you’re interested in, send an email to megan.myers@feedingsouthdakota.org

Or if you want to volunteer, that’s an option as well.
