SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We often think of a battle with cancer in two ways. Survival, or defeat. There’s a little more to it than that.
That’s what Nick Wendell found out after battling cancer for the better part of the last five years. After a two different types, he’s in remission right now.
He thought being a survivor would come with a never-ending feeling of joy and relief. Wendell was surprised when he confronted the toll it took on his mental health– even though he survived.
On tonight’s Eye on KELOLAND, we’ll introduce you to Wendell and show you how he wants to use his own journey to address mental health needs for cancer survivors — and how you can help.
