SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — He’s South Dakota’s other fighter pilot ace. We’ve all heard of Joe Foss and his World War II heroics and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for shooting down 26 Japanese airplanes.
But how many of you know the story of Cecil Harris, of Cresbard? He shot down 24 planes and never got hit by a single bullet. So why haven’t we heard of him?
“He seemed to have a desire to simply let the past be the past and go on and build another life,” Artist John Mollison said.
