WESSINGTON SPRINGS, S.D. (KELO) — The Shakespeare Garden and Anne Hathaway Cottage in Wessington Springs is quite an experience.
The small town attraction has even had visitors from other parts of the world. But the property was once part of a college campus.
“This place is what is left of Wessington Springs Seminary, which became Wessington Springs College around the 1920s. It survived until 1964 when the college closed, and a high school stated here for another four years until 1968,” Susan Arnott, president of the Shakespeare Garden Society, said.
Coming up in tonight’s Eye on KELOLAND at 10 p.m., we’ll dig into the history of this attraction and why an organization says it’s important to the community.
