ROSEBUD SIOUX RESERVATION, S.D. (KELO) — A skateboard has taken a California man around the world and now his wheels have landed on a South Dakota reservation.
A couple of years ago, Clay Shank arrived on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation with an idea of how to engage area youth, through his passion for boarding. With the help of the kids, he’s turned the basement of an old home and a concrete basketball court into skateboard parks. But that’s not where this story ends.
“The step to enter the race for mayor, the people in Mission, I think they appreciate the kind of energy and motivation that they’ve seen here and they see the kids being involved and taking responsibility,” Shank said.
Angela Kennecke has the story of how a California skateboarder is doing a 180 into politics on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in tonight’s on Eye on KELOLAND at 10 p.m.
