It’s a trip dozens of veterans will never forget.
Mission Four was another success for the Midwest Honor Flight earlier this month. KELOLAND’s Dan Santella flew with the World War II, Vietman War and Korean War veterans as they toured the memorials in their honor.
“Our World War II veterans, their memorial was built way, way too late after their service, 60 years after the conclusion of World War II,” Midwest Honor Flight President and Director Aaron Van Beek said. “Our Korean veterans have been kind of the forgotten era, and our Vietnam veterans were not treated well on the way home. So each veteran takes back different things from this flight, but it’s all, they’re all treated the same, with the honor, the respect, and they find some closure.”
You’ll hear from several veterans tonight on KELOLAND News. Two reports will air, one at 6 and another at 10 in tonight’s Eye On KELOLAND.
