DEADWOOD, S.D. (KELO) — When the show “Deadwood” premiered on HBO in 2004, it developed a loyal following and won numberous awards.
But it only lasted three short season, leaving fans disappointed.
Now HBO is releasing Deadwood, the movie, which will pick up a decade after where the series left off. That has folks in the Black Hills town excited about the renewed interest in the old west.
“The amount of excitement and energy the creators bring to their characters make people really excited to find out who those characters were in real life in Deadwood,” Amanda Kille with the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce & Vistor’s Bureau said.
Visitors can find many of those characters memorialized in the cemetery that overlooks the town.
Coming up Tuesday on Eye on KELOLAND, we give you sneak peak of this much-anticipated movie and have reaction from those living in Deadwood.
