PREVIEW: Going gradeless

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Can you imagine going to school and not getting a grade?

There are gradeless classrooms popping up all over America.

Including at Roosevelt High School. Gina Benz only grades a few tests and projects.

She says she wants students to focus on learning, and overall progress throughout the semester.

“I try not to grade as much, at all, because then they’re more willing to learn and grow and even fail sometimes. Because they learn a lot from the failure, pick themselves up and do even better the next time,” Benz said.

On Wednesday’s Eye on KELOLAND, you’ll see how it works and how it may have some added benefits for stressed out students.
