HUMBOLDT, S.D. (KELO) — Four-hundred people in South Dakota have a neuromuscular disease.
That doesn’t seem like a lot, but it may affect your loved one or you. In Humboldt, you’ll find the Van Overbeke family. They have two sons, Eli and Micah.
Micah has a disease that progressively weakens his muscles.
His mom, Stacy, says he needs therapies, but his condition doesn’t slow down her happy little boy.
“Micah is always the life of the party, aren’t you? He’s always got something funny for us to laugh about,” Stacy Van Overbeke said.
On Wednesday’s Eye on KELOLAND, we’ll introduce you to the family, and show you the triumphs and challenges in this home.
Plus, we’ll show you how you can help support research to treat neuromuscular diseases.
