RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — Following George Floyd’s death in Minnesota, many statues have come down nationwide. But that isn’t the case in South Dakota.
Rapid City is home to the City of Presidents — a project that was started in 2000. 44 u-s presidents stand tall on several intersections in the downtown area. President Barack Obama was the most recent addition.
“The statues are important because they remind us, if we choose, that 44 men have created the stepping stones in America for what we have today,” Mayor Steve Allender said.
In Friday’s, Eye on KELOLAND, we learn about the City of Presidents and statues in the state.
