PREVIEW: Building a legacy

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —  It’s a big day for all of us here in KELOLAND TV.  Thursday marks the 60th anniversary of the dedication of our station.

On Eye On KELOLAND, we look back at the rich history of the building that was dedicated and first broadcast from on May 9th, 1959.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to extend greetings and best wishes to station KELO, on the occasion of the dedication of its new facility in Sioux Falls and also at the same time to extend my best wishes to all of its listeners in what I understand is termed, KELOLAND,” then Vice President Richard Nixon said.

From the ground breaking to construction to years of broadcasting both live TV and radio programming, we’ll take a trip down memory lane of a building that was the foundation to legacy of leadership.
