PREVIEW: A home and hope

MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO) — There will be more foster care options in western KELOLAND later this year.

The Abbott House is adding two new therapeutic foster homes with apartments in Rapid City. The apartments will be for kids who are aging out of the foster care system.

“We’re just excited to have an apartment, have a place that they can be. They call us when there’s problems. We help them fix radiators and figure out how to buy the next and those types of things to help them move on with their lives. I’m really exicted about it because we put a lot of work into them at the Abbott House and now we get to finish the job,” Abbott House Executive Director Eric Klooz said.
Klooz says they hope to break ground in July or August.

Find out why a mother continues to be a foster mom through the Abbott House coming up in Monday’s Eye On KELOLAND at 10.
