Two Roosevelt juniors are being invited to New York City after winning national awards for their art.
Carlee Johnson and Olivia Dondlinger are gold medal winners in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Johnson considers herself more of a medical student but she has a passion for creating art.
“Art is just like a creative expression, outlet for me. If I have stress I might just want to go draw something. Anytime I have an idea, I have to sketch it out. I’m not good with words, so I sketch out what I see,” Johnson said.
The national award ceremony is scheduled for June in New York City.
