SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - One hundred-ninety students are getting a "Running Start" at middle school this summer at Patrick Henry.
The program teaches future sixth graders how to open lockers and feel comfortable in their new school. It also introduces them to fellow students getting ready to jump from elementary to middle school.
"They will a lot of times come back in future years and say they met their best friend here. They have about 30 other kids that they meet and hang out with for four days," Johnson said.
Each session of Running Start runs for about four hours a day for four days.
