Sioux Falls Middle School Boasts Big Marching Band

A whopping 140 students play an instrument in the Patrick Henry Marching Band.

This past weekend, the group claimed first place in its first ever competition in Beresford. Patrick Henry is the only middle school in town with a marching band. Eighth grader Emma Weisz plays the flute. She hopes to continue in marching band when she goes to Lincoln High School next year.

“I think it would be really fun to be older and do it so you could see how you were then versus now,” Weisz said.

If you’d like to see the group in action, they will be performing during the Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls this Saturday.
