"Airsoft Guns" Lead To Hill City School To Lockdown For Hour

HILL CITY, S.D. - Two teenagers playing with airsoft guns led Hill City schools to go into a lockdown for about an hour.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff's Office, a Hill City School District staff member saw two individuals were in a field across the street from Hill City schools with what looked like a handgun and a rifle.

After an investigation by deputies, the weapons were discovered to be airsoft guns not capable of firing live ammunition.

No charges will be filed against the 17-year-old and 18-year-old teenage boys, who were playing in the field.

Also on Friday, the Tea School District was locked down because of a pursuit.
