One of South Dakota’s economic development leaders will be leaving his position after five years.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced Thursday that Governor’s Office of Economic Development commissioner Pat Costello will serve his last day on June 30.

Before working for the Daugaard administration, Costello was a Sioux Falls city council member for 4 years.

“I’d like to thank the Governor for the opportunity to serve as GOED commissioner,” said Costello.  “It has been a personally rewarding experience.  I’m very proud of what the Governor and our team have accomplished, and I’ll always value the friendships across the state I’ve made.”

GOED deputy commissioner Aaron Scheibe will serve as interim commissioner until a new commissioner is named.
