A tragedy like the one in Florida hits close to home at Dakota State University.
Several students on campus are involved in an E- sports club, where they can play different video games.
However school officials say they work hard to prepare for situations like the one in Florida.
“We sort of look at it holistically and how we would react if something like that happened in any of our events and preparing our faculty and staff and our students if something like that did happen, regardless of what event it might be,” Garstecki said.
Garstecki says before the start of the semester there was mandatory active shooter training for all employees.
The South Dakota School of Mines also has an e-sports club on campus.
