A dentist is facing several charges of sexual contact with female inmates. Andrew Heinisch is a dentist in Worthington, MN and also subcontracted to work at the Minnehaha County Jail.
Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead says on June 9, an inmate told authorities the dentist inappropriately touched her.
Andrew Heinisch is now charged with four counts of sexual acts between a jail employee and a detainee. Plus four counts of sexual contact without consent with a person capable of consenting. Heinisch turned himself in Thursday and posted a $10,000 bond.
According to Minnehaha County Sheriff, Mike Milstead, Andrew Heinisch has been working with the jail as a contractor since March of 2016.
“Medical care, dental care, those are all key components in keeping the inmates safe and so our expectations is that nothing like this will happen,” Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead said.
Authorities believe there may be as many as five victims involved in this case.
“We went back, we were provided with a list of all of the female inmates that he had seen since he had started here, and we reached out to everyone that we could reach,” Milstead said.
Heinisch is also a dentist in Worthington.
KELOLAND News called the office Friday asking if he was working or if they knew the next time he would be in, they answered no to both of those questions and didn’t have a comment on the incident.
An incident Milstead says is frustrating.
“Someone who we believe violated that trust, clearly, sexually touched people inappropriately and so you put in place what you can, but when you have people in certain positions, they can try to take advantage of people who are vulnerable,” Milstead said.
Heinisch will make his first court appearance on Monday.
