Officials with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office want to talk with a couple believed to be the last people to see a missing girl.

A male and female were cutting wood in the area of Foster Gulch and South Rockerville Road Sunday morning between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  The two spoke with Children’s Home staff before Serenity Dennard went missing.

They are described as being in their late 20s or early 30s and driving a pickup truck.

Deputies want to speak with them to better determine a timeline on Serenity’s disappearance and her direction of travel.

More than 60 people are involved in the search for a missing girl in western South Dakota.

An official with the Children’s Home Society says a staff member saw the girl leave the building but wasn’t able to follow as there were other children the staffer was watching.

The search for a missing nine-year-old girl in Pennington County now includes additional resources.

Serenity Dennard was last seen on Sunday, February 3 at 11:20 a.m. MST leaving the Children’s Home Society on South Rockerville Road.

Pennington County Deputies, Pennington County Search and Rescue, Custer County Search and Rescue, Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department, Rapid City Fire Department and at least three dogs searched the area until 10 p.m. Sunday using hand-held thermal imaging devices. Deputies also patrolled the area throughout the night.

The Civil Air Patrol is helping with the search by air and ground as of Monday morning.

Law enforcement is asking for people living in the Rockerville and Highway 16 area to search their outbuildings and property.  While the public’s offer to help is appreciated, law enforcement officials say they have the professional staff needed to continue the search.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office has been asked about issuing an Amber Alert. Currently, this does not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert, which includes credible evidence that a child under 18 years old has been abducted.

Dennard is a Caucasian girl, 4’7”, 90 pounds, with blue eyes and shoulder length dirty blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt with flowers, blue jeans and snow boots.

If anyone has seen or had contact with Serenity Dennard, please contact the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office at (605) 394-6115.
