The Washington Pavilion is a popular place for kids.
But 13-year-old Paul Schoeller and 10-year-old Caleb Reese Paul didn’t come here just to check out comic books with superheroes.
In fact, at night, these two are superstars.
The young actors both play Peter, Jack, and George in the musical Finding Neverland.
Six boys share four roles.
These two won’t take the stage until Thursday night.
“It’s a really fun show,” Paul Schoeller said.
Oh, and they’ll be performing alongside a shaggy co-star.
“The dog plays Porthos in the show. He’s a big part of our show,” Schoeller says.
Sammy and another dog take turns playing Porthos on stage, but in real life they’re both rescues.
Kelli Volk: What’s it like trying to get a dog to act on stage?
Caleb Reese Paul: You have to always be in control so he knows what he has to do.
This is the third stop on the tour for the young boys.
“It’s really incredible. You have to really think, ‘I’m so privileged to do this.’ It is fun; you get to work with adults,” Schoeller said.
Kelli Volk: What do you want the audience to learn from this musical?
Paul: Believe, I guess.
“You’re never too old to stop playing. You can always keep playing,” Schoeller said.
…something these two are taking to heart.
Finding Neverland begins Wednesday night at 7:30 at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls.
There’s another performance of it Thursday at the same time.
