Saturday Boredom Busters: October 20th

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Etc. Expo For Her is a day of shopping, entertainment and pampering for women of all ages.  The expo goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  Admission is $7, $6 with a canned good donation for the Sioux Falls Food Pantry.  The first 200 adults through the doors receive a free gift bag.

Visit the the Jaycees Haunted House, if you dare, at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  The haunted house runs from 7 p.m. to midnight in the Fine Arts Building.  Admission is $15.  You'll get a dollar off admission for each canned food donation up to three per person.  The donations go to Feeding South Dakota.

The Washington Pavilion is hosting Spooky Science including edible bugs, Slime-A-Tron, candy and interactive experiments.  Wear a costume, if you wish.   Spooky Science goes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  

Health Connect of South Dakota is hosting a Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena.  Activities include live music, magic shows, martial arts demonstrations, free blood pressure screenings, free spinal exams, free haircuts for kids and nutrition information.  

The Canton Youth Wrestling Club presents the Dueling Duo piano show at the Gate City Events Center in Canton, SD.  The performance is at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $33.72.  Proceeds will go to purchase new youth wrestling singlets.

The Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery are hosting a Holiday Fair featuring homemade hand-crafted gifts for sale.  The fair runs from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the monastery located at 1005 West 8th Street in Yankton.

Renner Lutheran Church is hosting a Harvest Festival from 4-7 p.m.  The festival includes a Soup & Pie Supper.

St. Lambert School is hosting a Craft Fair featuring dozens of booths selling crafts and concessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Admission is free.  The school is located at 1000 S. Bahnson Avenue in Sioux Falls.    

Check out the Fortress of the Bears exhibit at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.   The exhibit also has interactive displays including a kids' field research station.  The zoo opens at 9 a.m.  The last admission is 6 p.m.  

While you're at the zoo, enjoy storytime and an animal encounter during the Bookworms Reading Program.  The program starts  at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.  

Purchase fresh produce and other items at the Falls Park Farmers Market.  It's open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.   Enjoy live music by the group Short Notice.  

Homestead Orchard near Marion is hosting a free Chrysanthemum Show.  Take a relaxing stroll through the greenhouse to see more than 80 varieties of mums from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

The South Dakota State & National Hand Corn Picking Contests are this weekend at the Jim and Deb Redder farm northeast of Flandreau.  The contests start at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is free.

The Stampede hockey team takes on the Madison Capitols at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets are available at the KELOLAND Box Office.
