Strawbale Winery in Renner is hosting The Folk Off and Rib Challenge. Up to a dozen musical acts will compete for awards and a chance to perform at next weekend’s SIoux River Folk Festival. The Folk Off headliner is the Red Willow Band performing at 7 p.m. Up to six local food vendors are in the Rib Challenge which begins at 11 a.m. Admission is $20. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire and the Friends of Traditional Music.
Familyfest at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls features performances by children’s entertainer Phil Baker, plus martial arts demonstrations, mini-roller coasters, and the ZooExpress. Familfest runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children, free for kids under three. Familyfest is a fundraiser for CMN.
Enjoy the state’s official nosh during the South Dakota Chislic Festival in Freeman, SD. Activities begin at 4 p.m. at the Freeman softball field and swimming pool park and include a kid zone, bingo, a volleyball tournament and judging. Classic Lamb and New Age Nosh winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. The People’s Choice Winners will be announced at 9 p.m.
The Elks Rodeo at the Winner Fairgrounds is a benefit for LifeScape. The competition starts at 7:30 p.m. and includes bareback riding, saddle bronc, barrel racing and bull riding. Admission is $12, free for kids 10 and under.
Tonight’s free Moonlight Movie at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls is The Princess and the Frog. The movie begins at dusk.
Ephemeral Productions presents a stage production of Broadway & Beyond, featuring local performers at McKennan Park. The free performance begins at 7 p.m.
Anglers of all ages are invited to Family Park in Sioux Falls for free fishing starting at 9 a.m. Everything is furnished, including poles, bait and tackle.
The Sioux Valley Cycle Club north of Sioux Falls is hosting Short-Track Motorcycle Racing from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Concessions, picnic area and playground are also available. Admission is $5, free for kids under five.
Archery is the featured sport at Super Saturday at The Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. This free event starts at 10 a.m. All the equipment is provided.
Vendors at the Falls Park Farmer’s Market are selling fresh flowers, bread, local meats and tender greens from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through October.
A Pancake Feed and Bake Sale at the Sioux Falls VFW will raise money for David Blom, who was injrued in a car-pedestrian crash in May. Serving time is 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children.
Also at the VFW, the Sioux Falls Collectibles Sports Cards Show features new and vintage cards plus jerseys for sale from vendors throughout the region. The show goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
The Canaries baseball team takes on the Wichita Wingnuts at Sioux Falls Stadium. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m.
The American Legion in Baltic, SD is hosting a Street Dance. The band Driven will perform starting at 9 p.m. Food will be available at the Someday Café. Admission is free.
