A heavy law enforcement presence, including the bomb squad, was in an east Sioux Falls neighborhood Tuesday night.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office says a search warrant was executed near 18th Street and Blaine Avenue in east Sioux Falls Tuesday afternoon. A second search warrant was issued for the same location, and as of 9:00 p.m. it was still ongoing. One person was arrested: Mark Christopher Einerwold, who faces burglary, intentional damage to property, and possession of a controlled weapon charges.
“We’re trying to really make everything safe for the officers and the public,” said Josh Phillips, deputy sheriff sergeant with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office. “So we’re just, it’s really a slow process, there’s no rush, we have the people in custody that we need in custody, and we want to make sure that we get everybody out safely, find them a place to go.”
KELOLAND News asked about bomb-making equipment and pipe bombs.
“I can’t comment at that,” Phillips said.
Phillips said there were “precautionary evacuations,” and also said that the public is not in any kind of danger.
