The body of a missing 19-year-old, last seen jumping in the water at Palisades State Park near Garretson, SD, was recovered Sunday morning, Minnehaha County Emergency Management said.
The man is an international student. His family is being notified, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Rescue crews were called to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday. They were told by friends of the 19-year-old that he went in the water near the lower picnic area and never resurfaced.
After about 90 minutes of searching, Minnehaha County Sheriff officials said the efforts switched from rescue to recovery.
The search was suspended overnight, and resumed Sunday evening.
