Benefits Of Cycling Class

Getting your exercise doesn’t always have to feel like a chore.

With good music and friends you can make a workout fun.

Mary Cunningham has been doing indoor cycling classes for years, and she says the way she feels afterward keeps her coming back.

“The motivation and the workout. It’s a good workout. I do a variety of different things here,” Cunningham said.

At the age of 72, Cunningham says she’s proud to participate in the class.

“It’s just an achievement because my age, and what I can do,” Cunningham said.

But when it comes down to it, Cunningham says the class all depends on what you put into it.

“I was a very heavy child and I’m doing things I didn’t do as a kid, and this gives me a good feeling about this,” Cunningham said.

Class instructor Danelle Schultz says indoor cycling is great for cardiovascular health while being easy on the joints when compared to running.

“A lot of runners like to cross train on the bike because it’s still cardio but it’s different cardio than running,” Schultz said.

Schultz says the class attracts all age groups thanks to it’s versatility in difficulty.

“That’s the nice thing, it’s your own workout. Nobody around you knows how high your gear is. As long as you’re breathing heavy, getting a little sweat, you’re getting a good workout,” Schultz said.

Slowing down when you need to, and pushing yourself when you can.

“You have the instructor there to motivate you and lead you with some awesome music. Some people don’t like sitting on a bike for 45 minutes so they need that extra motivation,” Schultz said.

Participants say the class offers them time to get a good workout in and also have some fun.

“Music really makes a difference,” Schultz said.

Don’t forget your water bottle, because Schultz says staying hydrated is crucial during a cycling class.
