Baby Rockers Make Big Difference At Local Hospital

News

A Sioux Falls man is making a big difference a local hospital with some of its smallest patients.

Clair Halverson is a baby rocker in the Sanford Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Over eight years, he’s rocked hundreds of babies. He says the job is very rewarding and he’s learned how to read babies to see what they need.

“Give them a pacifier if they want one. Hold their hands down to keep them from waving their arms around. Rock them. Talk to them in a soothing voice,” Halverson said.

This year, Halverson has already volunteered in the NICU for 623 hours.
