Another Zimmer Experience

For the past year we've reported on George and Jennifer Zimmer here in Sioux Falls and all their legal troubles.

Now their son is in trouble with the law.

This is in connection with a road rage incident that happened yesterday afternoon near Interstate 90 and Marion road on the north side of Sioux Falls.

18-year-old John James Zimmer is charged with two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly shooting out the window of another vehicle.
The victim, who had her eight year old daughter in the vehicle with her, followed the car Zimmer was in and called 9-1-1. Officers say Zimmer had tossed the gun out the window, but they were able to locate it in the ditch. It turns out it was a pellet gun, but officers say it looked real.

"I couldn't tell the difference in daylight let alone low light conditions but we were able to recover that as well as a scale that was tossed out the window, they're commonly used for measuring narcotics," Minnehaha County Deputy Sheriff Jason Gearman said.

Zimmer could get 30 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

Today in court, prosecutors say Zimmer has a violent history of assaults as a juvenile.
Both his mom and dad, George and Jennifer Zimmer, were recently in jail for violating terms of their probations.
