A KELOLAND animal shelter just got a nice chunk of money thanks to a local car dealership.

On Wednesday, the owner of Schulte Subaru handed over a check for more than $57,000 to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

This isn’t the first time the dealership has delivered in a big way for the non-profit.

In just three years, the dealership has donated more than $130,000.

“My wife and I love animals dearly. We have four animal rescues ourselves as well as two outside adoptive cats and it’s just a cause and organization that’s near to our hearts,” Schulte Subaru Owner Mike Schulte said.

The money goes a long way for the Humane Society.

It’s used for medical procedures including vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and even emergencies.

“I always call it my biggest blessing because it’s just one of those relationships that happen; it’s very natural. It’s something that we just so much appreciate,” SFAHS Executive Director Kori Baade said.

The money is generated through car sales during part of November and all of December.
