Early Results Give Johnson, Noem Leads

Despite delays in some polling places early in the day, results from across South Dakota quickly came out at 9:45 p.m. CDT.

Early results are in with 424 of 685 precincts counted.

Congresswoman Kristi Noem holds an early lead over Attorney General Marty Jackley 58 percent to 42 percent in in the GOP gubernatorial race. The winner will take on Democratic candidate Billie Sutton in the general election in November.

In the GOP U.S. House Primary, former PUC member Dusty Johnson jumped out to a big early lead, receiving 49 percent of the vote. South Dakota Secretary of State Shantel Krebs has 27 percent and South Dakota state senator Neal Tapio has 24 percent. The winner will face Democrat candidate Tim Bjorkman, Libertarian candidate George Hendrickson and Independent candidate Ron Wieczorek in the general election.
