Having a nice smile can give someone the confidence they need to succeed.
This is the second year Siouxland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is offering its ‘Second Chance’ program, giving the recipient a free oral restoration procedure.
“That could be from gum disease, cavities, or broken teeth or a combination. Many people just did not get good dental care to begin with and it just cascaded and bad things became worse until these people don’t have a good dentition at all,” Siouxland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Denis Miller said.
Last year, Miller and Dr. Lou George went through about 250 applications. With the deadline closing later this week, so far they’ve received about 220 applications.
“We will review all the cases and then for the people that we think we will be able to provide the most difference for, then we will invite them and we will do clinical exam, review their case, and go from there,” Miller said.
“They’re getting the Cadillac in our industry so to speak because when we want to get out there and give someone the best, we want them to know they’re getting the best so they can get their self-confidence,” George said.
Giving people a second chance at the perfect smile.
“Seeing those people complete their treatment and being able to give them a hug, and they always say, ‘Thank you so much. You don’t know what this means to me;’ that’s the best reward we can get,” George said.
