A South Dakota sheriff is warning the public about the dangers of lightning.
The Moody County Sheriff’s Office said a single bolt of lightning killed 21 cows next to a metal bale feeder. The department shared the photo on its Facebook page, where it was shared more than 58,000 times.
Authorities used the loss to remind the public about the dangers of lightning. If you’re outside during a storm, seek shelter immediately.
The cattle were worth about $45,000.
