I grew up in Windom, Minnesota, and learned to love sports at an early age. As a fan of the Minnesota franchises, I’m also quite familiar with disappointment. A pair of World Series titles from the Twins can only carry a guy so far. In 2000, I wrote in this space that my favorite team is the Minnesota Vikings, and that they’d one day win the Super Bowl. Hasn’t happened, but I’m not about to abandon the bandwagon.
I began my television career in 1998, as an Intern at KELO-TV. In May, 2000, I became the Weekend Sports Anchor, and five months later was named Sports Director. I anchored the 6:00 and 10:00 sportscasts until 2007, winning Associated Press Sportscast of the Year in 2003, 2005, and 2006. In 2007, I left broadcasting, only to reappear a year later at KDOM Radio in Windom, Minnesota. After more than five years as a salesman and broadcaster, my family decided to make the move back to the Sioux Falls Area, and I was lucky enough to resume my role as Sports Director at KELO-TV.
Every day is a new adventure in the world of sports, and it’s a pleasure to bring you the stories and highlights.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, who keeps dad busy playing wiffle ball, hide and seek, and more. We also enjoy camping, attending sporting events, and spending time with our extended family.
Feel free to send me story ideas, and we’ll do our best to get your team on KELO-TV.
