Clint Eastwood and Paul Brinegar from the popular TV show Rawhide had fans coming out to the airport to greet them ahead of the Gold Rush. The pair made some appearances and interviews along with meeting and signing autographs. At the Gold Rush location they appeared in character as Rowdy Yates (Eastwood) and Whishbone (Brinegar).
