October was a soggy month that slowed the harvest, and the cold temperatures had many thinking of an early winter. It might be a surprise that some areas in KELOLAND are actually below average for yearly precipitation.

For the year, many locations are looking at amounts of 15 to 23 inches, but even after getting our fifth wettest October, Sioux Falls leads the pack with under 2 inches for the year followed by Mitchell at nearly a quarter inch below. The drowning rains have mainly fallen in northeast KELOLAND with Aberdeen close to 4 inches above average followed by Sisseton at three and a third. Even western KELOLAND has been wet with an amount of 2 inches above average.

The wet ground will dry up as we go through the rest of this week and into the weekend.
