The USF defense, which has been one of the most dominant units in the country since the beginning of last season, got a big scare on Saturday.
Not from the Hastings offense, but in the form of injuries to senior starting linebackers Marlon Lobban and Kyle Cummings.
And Cummings' college career is likely over.
Cougars coach Kalen DeBoer said Monday that while there's no official word on Cummings just yet; preliminarily, it looks like he is out for the rest of the season, effectively ending his playing days at USF.
The senior from Buffalo, Wyo., was carted off the field in Saturday's win over Hastings with a knee injury. DeBoer said Cummings will likely have an MRI in the near future.
Meanwhile, there's good news for Lobban, who spent the second half of Saturday's game on crutches. DeBoer says Lobban is OK, and will likely play this weekend at Concordia.
