Mitch Sutton scored three touchdowns and ran for 190 yards to lead North Dakota to a 27-12 victory over South Dakota Saturday.

Sutton scored on runs of 2 and 1 yards and on a 12-yard pass from Jake Landry. North Dakota has won 14 of the last 15 meetings. The Coyotes last won in Grand Forks in 1985.

UND held the Coyotes scoreless in the second half, with a big goal-line stand in the fourth quarter. USD had eight plays inside the UND 8-yard line without scoring, with Curtis Dublanko and Link Gottbeheat throwing quarterback Noah Shepard for a loss on the last play with 3:33 left. The Fighting Sioux then ran out the clock.

UND (1-0, 2-3) held a 13-12 lead at halftime, its touchdowns coming on Sutton's short run and a 13-yard pass from Landry to Jarrel Davis. USD (0-1, 3-2) scored on a 1-yard run by Isaac Newton and a 9-yard pass from Shepard to Ben Oberle.
