Kelli Grant
You might say that I was telling stories in the womb or that story telling is in my blood. In fact, I used to bring at least two or three stories to the dinner table every night. So it’s no surprise to me or my family that I've found a passion in sharing stories with you. I was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, a large town in the southwestern part of the Hoosier state. After an internship at WTHR-13 in Indianapolis, I graduated from the Indiana University School of Journalism in 2004 with a broadcast degree. Two weeks after graduation, I packed up and drove all the way to Minnesota to begin my broadcast career. My first big break was given to me at KEYC-Channel 12 in Mankato. There I worked as a reporter for just over a year. I joined the KELOLAND team in August of 2005 and since have moved around the newsroom. I began my career in South Dakota as KELO’s Education reporter and Saturday Morning Co-Anchor. I most recently was promoted to HealthBeat Anchor.
Everyone always asks me, “Is your job fun?” And my answer is always “Yes!” Every day I learn something new and I meet the most interesting people. My hope is through storytelling, I can bring you into my world that is ever changing and always educational. Never did I imagine I'd end up 12 hours from my hometown, living in South Dakota…but it’s been a move I’d make a million times over. I'm now proud to call South Dakota home.
I’m a newlywed, and when I’m not working, I love to spend time with my husband Steve. Because our families aren’t in South Dakota, we do a lot of traveling. But luckily we have made great friends here and we call them our second family. Besides spending time with family and friends, I also love to sing, dance and get outdoors.
