When I was growing up near Sheboygan, Wisconsin, I had this little $20 portable radio. And that thing could pick up a signal better than any radio I've ever owned. I grew up a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and every night, I'd listen to the legendary Jack Buck call their games on KMOX. By the time I was 10, I wanted to pursue a sports broadcasting career of my own. This job is a lifelong dream come true for me, and I hope that enthusiasm shows when I'm on the air. I was homeschooled in middle school and high school, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism. During college, I worked for the U's student radio station, newspaper, and a Web site called The Palestra. I interned and freelanced at a number of Twin Cities media outlets, including KFAN Radio, WCCO-TV, The Pioneer Press, The Star Tribune, Northwest Community Television and North Metro TV. I started out in Sioux Falls as an on-air sports intern for another station in 2006, and a year later, was hired at KELO. I left for six months to work at KTIV in Sioux City, and came back as weekend sports anchor in July 2008. I got married in June 2009. Emily is a preschool teacher in Sioux Falls, and brings home lots of funny stories from the kiddos. I like to spend my free time with music, movies, and TV on DVD. I’m a big fan of Pearl Jam, have far too many favorite movies to mention, and hold the opinion that The Wire is the greatest show in the history of television. E-mail David |
