David Brown
David BrownMy story starts at the beginning of my sophomore year at Apple Valley High School in 2001. My freshman English teacher, Joe Wycoff, encouraged me to try out for the debate team. Once I made it, the rest was history.

Joe was confident that I could excel. While I remained skeptical at first, I gained more confidence after winning several local debate tournaments. I was lucky to find my niche in public speaking and I had a great time traveling and competing at invitationals across the United States throughout high school. I graduated from Apple Valley in 2004 and knew that I wanted to be a television journalist.

I attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in May 2008 with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. During my time at college, I was also a debate coach back at my alma mater, Apple Valley. In addition to coaching, I worked a variety of internships during my time at the U, including KFAN sports radio and KARE-TV. Both internships re-affirmed my love and passion for journalism. I joined the KELOLAND team in July 2008 as a sports and news reporter. In September 2010, I took on a new role as weekend news anchor.

Away from work, I enjoy watching movies, working out and rooting for all the local Minnesota sports teams (and yes, that includes Gopher football).
