Brian Kushida

Every time I drive down I-229 and feel the high winds I’m reminded of my home state of Illinois. I grew up in the northern suburbs of windy city Chicago – home to skyscrapers, deep dish pizza, and the bitter rivalry between baseball’s Chicago Cubs and White Sox. Although I enjoyed the vibrant culture, I knew that there was more of the Midwest to discover.

Life brought me 400 miles northwest in Minneapolis. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism and a minor in cinema studies. During my college years, I worked as business reporter with The Minnesota Daily. After that, I interned at KMSP Fox 9 News in its investigative unit.

I joined KELOLAND TV in August 2008. I couldn’t be happier to be part of a team of hard-working, high-spirited individuals. I’m very proud to call South Dakota my home; living here has granted me the opportunity to interact with many great people and explore a wonderful state.

When I’m not reporting, I enjoy playing basketball, watching classic films, and dabbling with my electric guitar.
