My poor Chevy truck pushed through rigors the past year. It came from North Carolina pollen blooms, dealt with Miami traffic and salt spray and handled like Hidalgo in West Texas dust storms. The horse with no name and I are happy to leave interstates in the rear view and put KELOLAND in the brights. My interest in weather was piqued by Hurricanes Fran and Floyd when they slammed my hometown in Central North Carolina. There's a photo of me from third grade career day complete with one of those umbrella hats, but I hid it from Mom and Dad. I graduated from the University of Miami with Meteorology and Broadcast Journalism majors. While in college, I interned at WTVD in Raleigh-Durham and at WFOR in Miami. Before leaving Coral Gables with double honors and an Emmy nomination, I saved the lives of two baby ducks using a colander and Ethernet cable. Midland, Texas was my next stop. I worked at KWES and brought those skills with me to Sioux Falls. My main hobby is reading, but I love fishing, tennis, rock climbing, thrifting and crosswords. I accept challenges in Jeopardy as well as any story ideas you have. Just contact me. |
