Amanda Schneider
Amanda SchneiderI grew up in the suburbs outside of Chicago. Aside from going to school and making snow angels, my life revolved around sports. I attended many Bears football games with my family and closely followed the career of the legendary Michael Jordan. At the age of nine, I even knew the complete roster and stats of my favorite basketball team, the Chicago Bulls. Growing up, I would watch the 9 o’clock news every night with my parents. When the news was finished, that was my indicator that it was time for bed. I knew I wanted to work in news when I was eleven years-old. My fifth grade teacher assigned an art project to each student and you had to draw where you’d see yourself in twenty years. I decided then and there to draw myself at an anchor desk. Since current events were frequently discussed at the dinner table, news seemed like the obvious career choice.

In 2001, my parents decided it was time to move away from the brutal Chicago winters and live in sunny Southern California. I spent my high school days writing and interviewing students for the Yearbook and taking a TV Production class. I attended Chapman University where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Television.and Broadcast Journalism. I decided I wanted to be a producer after interning my junior and senior year of college at FOX News Channel and KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. A week before I graduated college, I received a position as an Editorial Assistant and Field Producer for KNBC-TV. I handled breaking news during wildfires, earthquakes and mudslides.

After almost two years of working in Los Angeles, I decided to move back to my Midwest roots. I am now the Midday Newscast Producer for KELOLAND. I am embracing the new challenges as a Producer and coping with the South Dakota winter. Driving in snow for the first time was a scary experience!

In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, critiquing films, traveling and visiting museums. If you have any story ideas you would like to share, feel free to contact me.
