Iowa Lawmakers Snuff Out Debate On Smoking Ban

Legislative leaders from both parties say they won't meddle with the state's ban on indoor smoking despite complaints about exemptions for casino gambling floors.
Many bar owners have complained about the casino exemptions, but lawmakers say they don't want to reopen a matter that was debated extensively before passing in last year's session. The law bans smoking in bars, restaurants and most other public places.
As House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy put it Thursday, most members agree to "let sleeping dogs lie."
